For Independent Sector clients we have already:

  • Sourced the medical staffing solution for a blue-chip independent provider to underpin the service design solution for a £multi-million PCT ENT/Audiology bid.
  • Led due diligence reviews for the main board of proposed solution designs for NHS service bids for Care UK for both primary and secondary care large scale multi-site long term procurement contracts.  These reviews delivered added value through both cost management and revenue enhancement proposals.
  • Designed and operationalised the NHS diagnostics services planned to be provided under sub-contract by Capio [now Ramsay] Health Care when working alongside Atos Origin.  This project required a multi-site, multi-partner approach, ensuring clear focus on how, as a sub-contractor, Capio was to deliver the commercial return required as a condition of partnership.
  • And when Philip was at Bupa he introduced innovative yield management [revenue optimisation] techniques from airline and hotel industries into the Bupa Hospitals. This was followed by the design of a New Operating Model that transformed the business into a higher volume/lower cost national standardised Network.

For NHS and Physician Group clients we have already:

  • Developed Beacon Healthcare as the new brand forging the commercial partnership between St Mary’s Hospital Isle of Wight and Lighthouse Medical Ltd, the Island’s GP consortium.  This innovative organisational partnership was the first of its kind in the NHS and was created to enable a joint consortia bid for the PCT’s GP Led Health Centre.  Housden Group provided the project leadership and project management and the 7 year £20M contract was won against other commercial sector bidders.  The new service is now open and running smoothly.  
  • We have developed a framework for enabling transparent commercial relations between NHS Trusts and local consultant LLPs/ consultant owned companies.  This framework offers a new approach to enabling a genuine ‘win-win’ deal for all parties: smoothing demand management and supply of capacity; managing consultant employment issues openly and providing best value for Trusts, while underpinning LLP revenue streams.

And when working in the NHS Philip negotiated the redevelopment of 3 NHS community hospitals across Hampshire and West Surrey, achieving Health Authority, clinical, CHC and public support for a new strategy which delivered a new sustainable service model and significant revenue savings.
