For Independent Sector clients we have already:

As Business Development Director – Specialist Care Services Division, Care UK, Philip provided interim and part-time leadership for 10 months in the period to November 2008.  During this time Philip:

  • Led search and brokered acquisition negotiations for Care UK in specialist care sector.
  • Rebuilt Care UK’s business development bid processes for mental health services.
  • Led completion of the Division’s corporate strategy review.

As Chief Operating Officer – Cardinal InHealth, InHealth Group, Philip provided Interim and part-time, leadership for 15 months to January 2008.  During this time Philip:

  • Reviewed InHealth’s cardiac business delivering a new strategy, investment plan and brand review for the business which provides staffed and serviced ‘one-stop’ operational catheter lab solutions for a wide range of NHS and independent sector customers across UK and Ireland through NHS embedded fixed-site long term service contracts, modular units for interim length contracts of 6 months to 2-3 years, and a mobile vehicle fleet for daily hire.
  • Delivered EBIT growth of 134% on 12% increase in £9M turnover for year ended September 2007, with the business turnaround achieved by:
    • Improved customer focus from operational management restructure into 3 regions.
    • Delivering top line drive for increased revenue through achievement of organic growth at existing NHS partnership sites and with NHS and independent sector for mobiles and new sales achieved in both sectors and within both UK and Ireland.
    • Business growth across the division enabled the ‘float’ of nuclear cardiology into a new molecular imaging business, revising the strategic focus solely on cardiac catheter labs.
    • A cost management review delivered a 25% reduction in consumables costs through negotiated price reductions with suppliers and an agreed narrower product range with clinical users.

For the wider health industry:

  • Philip is also part time consultant editor for the British Journal of Health Care Management. This peer reviewed monthly journal provides a place for publishing research, for the challenging of present orthodoxy and the presentation and debate of new ideas in health care.
  • Philip is also the convenor and inaugural chair of the Henley Management College’s MBA Alumni health care special interest group. This is a forum for the bringing together of industry leaders to discuss topical issues and refresh thinking on current challenges.
